KEATS, LEIGH HUNT AND SHELLEY
Manuscripts from the Additional, Ashley, Egertoon and Zweig Collections at the British Library
Note on the Order of the Manuscripts
The collection has been organised by poet, with five reels of material relating to Keats, followed by eight reels relating to Leigh Hunt, three reels relating to Hone and four reels relating to Shelley. However, the material does not relate exclusively to these poets and, for instance, the Gisborne journal included in the Keats section also has much material relevant to Byron, Coleridge and Shelley.
We have also tried to minimise the number of splices per reel in the original master microfilm and have often adhered to the original filming order chosen by the British Library. As a result, whilst we would prefer to organise manuscripts within each section by manuscript class and then by number (eg Additional Manuscripts followed by Ashley, Egerton and Zweig manuscripts), this has not always been possible.
To aid the user, this note is followed by a concordance of manuscripts.
Finally, we should note that the following manuscripts were considered unsuitable for or were unavailable for filming:
