SIXTEENTH AND SEVENTEENTH CENTURY NEWSLETTERS:

Part 1: Newsletters, c1564-1667, and Related Papers, c1607-1794, from the Public Record Office

Detailed Listing

A Note on Dates:

In the case of Viscount Scudamore’s embassy to France, where the Gregorian or new-style calendar had replaced the old-style Julian calendar, dates were ten days ahead of England. Thus the date of 2 June 1635 in England was in fact 12 June in France. In the listing below this is given as 2/12 June 1635. For the State Papers documents covered here most dates are given using this double dating system as per the original newsletter. The dates for C 115 documents are English dates.
