Guide to the Microfiche Contents List

This booklet reproduces the information on the headerstirps of the 1981 edition of The Witt Library microfiche publication. The headerstrips indicate the contents of the Library’s boxes that were filmed on that fiche. Please note that the information on the headerstrips, and in this guide, is intended as an aid to using the microfiche; it should not be regarded as an authority on the spelling or form of an artist’s name.

The microfiche contents lists is arranged in numerical order, with the start of each national school division indicated in larger type. Parentheses have been used to indicate that the fiche may contain artists with variously spelt names; thus “Aust(e)(i)n” indicates that the fiche may contain works by artists named “Austen” or “Austin”, whilst “Johns(t)on(e)” signifies artists called “Johnson”, “Johnston” or “Johnstone”.

When searching for an artist, please consider every alternative version of a name, and bear in mind that artists with extensive holdings in the Library are usually covered separately from the main alphabetical sequence, in their own boxes.
