Part 3 offers rich sources for:

- South Africa
- Zaire
- Zimbabwe
- Botswana
- Namibia
- Nigeria
- the Congo
- Ghana
Key figures represented are David Livingstone (1813-1873); Robert Moffat (1795-1883); Mungo Park (1771-1806); Verney Lovett Cameron (1844-1894); and Brodie Cruikshank (1814-1854). There are also Boer War letters and diaries.
